Unions Dare Governors To Divert Bailout Fund

The Nigeria Union of Teachers
(NUT) had on Wednesday June 8,
warned state governors against
diversion of the bailout funds
approved by the Federal
Government for the payment of
backlog of workers’ salaries,
pointing out such move would
be met with stiff opposition,
Nigerian Tribune reports.
The NUT national president,
Comrade Michael Olukoya, made
this remark while briefing
reporters in Abuja. He added that
he had already directed the
affected state wings of the union
to closely monitor the
disbursement of the funds, so
that the “bailout does not
develop wings.”
He stressed that any delay in the
disbursement of the funds, “the
teachers in the state should
declare a state of anarchy and
exhibit unpleasant behaviours.”
